Cosplays

Hello fellow Geeks and Geekettes,

 Let’s talk about Cosplay!
I am in full swing of holy crap I don’t have much time left to   get all my new cosplays done!  You know they were you begin to really work on them. I just order three of pieces the day and doing the whole I pray they fit while I wait for them.  I went out shopping the other day to look for other pieces of another Cosplay am working on with no outcome. Anyways I will share with you what I working towards and maybe you will have some helpful hints for me!
I am working a Dr. Horrible Cosplay; Since Nathan Fillion will be at Dallas Comic Con this year. My dad and I are planning on doing then whole Captain Hammer and Dr. Horrible deal. So dad already has his Captain Hammer all set.  So for me I just order the Jacket, gloves and Goggle. I have an idea for the pants what I really need is the White Rubber boots. (Rain boots)

The Second Cosplay I am working on is Cinderella before the ball, so she in the ragged cleaning clothes.  A group of my friends are doing the Disney Princess for DCC also. So am still in need of everything that Cinderella; tan skirt, Dark brown and light blue top, shoes and the apron.   I have an idea of getting a bucket to carry my stuff in .

So In between work and Cosplays hunt I’ve been one busy woman.  Once I finish my Cosplay I will for sure do  a detail  post about each other and what I did to make it.

Stay Geeky,

Book Pile

Computer is still out of commission, so my apologies for any bizarre formatting. :)

I'm having a bit of writer's block this week. I remembered this morning that oh yeah, I still need to write something. Then inspiration struck in the form of a pile of books: my to-read stack that's been accumulating since last summer. So far, I've read six:

Under the Dome - Stephen King
Cell - Stephen King
Christine - Stephen King
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (first book only) - Douglas Adams
Parasite - Mira Grant
The Princess Bride (including Buttercup's Baby) - William Goldman

I'm currently in the middle of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

Still left in my to-read pile (in no particular order):

The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
Frankenstein - Mary Shelley
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Robert Louis Stevenson
A Tale of Two Cities (this one's a re-read) - Charles Dickens
Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
By the Light of the Moon - Dean Kootz
The Time Machine/The Island of Dr. Moreau/The Invisible Man/The War of the Worlds/The First Men in the Moon/The Food of the Gods/In the Days of the Comet (these are all in one big book) - H.G. Wells
The Shining - Stephen King
Around the World in 80 Days - Jules Verne
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (omnibus) - Alan Moore & Kevin O'Neill
Aesop's Fables
The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (a gift from a friend upon hearing I'd only read the first book)

What's in your to-read pile or list? Comment below! I look forward to seeing what literature you guys are exploring.

Computer Issues

Howdy friends and fiends! If the formatting of this post seems a bit off, you'll need to forgive me. My computer is out of comission at the moment and I'm using a PS Vita to write this.

YAY TECHNOLOGY!

While waiting to be able to replace the screen, I decided to clean it out this past Wednesday. Armed with my screwdrivers and canned air, I carefully disassembled my laptop and gave it a much-needed cleaning; three years-worth of dust gone in a few puffs of canned air. Puffs, not huffs. Big difference there.

Now if you have insurance on yours, it's still under warranty, or you just don't trust yourself not to break something, then by all means take your machine to a professional. Personally, I just prefer to learn how to repair and/or clean my stuff - it comes in handy when you're on a tight budget and an unexpected 'uh-oh' occurs. Many times it's less costly to do the repair yourself if you know how to properly do it.

If you have any inquiries, ask away. I may not know all the answers, but I can definitely try to get the ones you're looking for if you need help. And never forget the cardinal rule for working on ANY electonic device: ALWAYS disconnect the power supply, whether it's a cord or a battery. You want to shock yourself with your abilities, not with electricity.

Geek-a-ify everything!

Hello Fellow Geeks and Geekettes!

lately I've been in the mood to do crafting projects. So I decide to geekaify  something for my bathroom. I need more and better storage for my earrings and such, So here what I did.

Supplies
Mog pod
sissors
paint brush
paper plate
fabric ( of whatever you want to use a a cover, I've comic book strips, to newspaper )
Iron
item you are geek-a-ifying

1. Pre-plan where you want your fabric to lay.

2. Trace any area you want to cover that you can't eyeball.

3. Iron out all the wrinkles out of the fabric and cut out the traced pieces.

4. Take you paint brush and  began to lightly cover your area that the fabric will .

I was just having fun with the Maco setting on my camera

5.Option, since Mog Pod  dries clean I decided to cover the whole thing in Mog Pod to project, and let it sit over night.

Here what my bathroom looked before.

Such a mess of my earrings

after!

I used tiny little plastic  containers to strong my earrings

Second drawer is tooth and mouth related items

I gotta see!
In all, I hope to try thing again with something else in mind, It was fun little project I hope to see projects from ya'll soon too! Please tweet us photos of your projects!

Minecraft: Geek Edition for Beginners

Even if you've never played it, it stands to reason that at some point within the past five years you've likely heard or seen something related to Minecraft. If you're one of the few sitting there about to open a new tab for Google, let me save you a step or two: the Minecraft Wiki describes it as being "a sandbox construction game...[that] involves players placing and breaking various types of blocks in a three-dimensional environment"; just typing the title into YouTube will present you with hours of play-through footage and how-to's on building structures and mechanisms.

Sometime around the end of January, I was finally able to get the Playstation 3 edition, largely because:
A. I already have a PS3 - the PS4 edition is slated to come out in March of this year - and
2. I'm not an avid PC gamer, and it's not practical to me to have a game that can consume hours of free time when there's only one [shared] computer in my house.
I started my own little world in Survival Mode, digging and mining and building and farming.

Then I started a second world in Create Mode.

Holy hole in a donut, Batman! I found my niche in the game. Being someone who thoroughly enjoys games like LittleBigPlanet and The Sims, Minecraft fits right into my personal preference of being able to create my own content within it.

So, what kind of stuff did I build?

I started with simple structures, such as shelters, and just playing around and seeing what I could do, and then I had an idea: I wanted to build the Ghostbusters logo. So I did a quick image search for reference and set to work placing wool blocks, removing wool blocks, repositioning wool blocks, and I came up with a decent-looking replica. Then I had the idea to grab some graph paper and colored pencils to create a sort of guide for other beginners like myself who want to recreate some of their favorite geek icons.

Materials used: Red wool, White wool, Black wool, and Glowstone (border)
The 2's you see indicate that if you stack an additional block on these places it gives the logo depth. Next, I wanted to try something just a bit more challenging:

Materials used: Lime wool, Green wool, Black wool, Gray wool, White wool, Brown wool, and Red wool
With this Hitchhiker's-themed build, I also added "DON'T PANIC' to the side in Glowstone. It sits along the top edge of my world and is visible whether it's day or night. Stacking the brown and red blocks makes the tongue seem even more as though it's sticking out. Then I had another fun idea:

Materials used: Red wool, Orange wool, and Yellow wool
What geek build would be complete without a display of cunning? Jayne's hat is incredibly easy, and sits next to the last thing I decided to show you:

Materials used: Blue wool, Light Blue wool, White wool, Black wool, and Glowstone
My project just didn't feel complete without a TARDIS. And none of these are difficult to make by any means, but I wanted to give you an idea of what you can do. You don't necessarily have to stick with battling Creepers and Zombies, nor do you have to endlessly mine, farm, and collect resources. If you're like me, any new opportunity to build and create opens up a Pandora's Box, so to speak, of ideas waiting to exist and to be shared.

If you have your own Minecraft creations you'd like to share, whether it's PC/PS3/360, please don't hesitate to do so. I'll even make a photo album to embed within this post if enough pics are received. I look forward to seeing what you all have to share.
