Proud to be a Geek

Hello Fellow Geeks and Geekettes!


As of right now, I will most likely be pulling my hairs out and counting down the mins until I get off work. I work for Old Navy and  today is our $1 flip flop day.


I wanted to talk about how being a geek or nerd is now becoming more and more popular. I've started to really notice this when I was at work ,  as the cashier one of the customers go I like your shirt. I looked up and realize I was wear the firefly/Minecraft shirt , we got to talk about how we miss firefly , I told her I  cosplay as Kaylee and she like really? It was awesome.

 A few days later I was checking out an other customer who was buying one of our Star Wars shirt for his son, I was like "Star Trek better" He chuckle.  I told  him am more of a Star Trek  fan but also like Star wars, and the day i was wearing my Tardis Shirt and hes go " well am also a whovian" I smiled and was like well am a Trekkie, whovian and Browncoat.


 A few weeks later , I went a more "high end" mall with my sister. I was wear a  Doctor Who shirt that if u weren't true a whovian it might be hard to guess it( it has all the doctors up to tenth  all on the random staircases) and ways , we walk into the LUSH store , I went straight to what I wanted when my sister like " I think they like your shirt" I looked up her " really?" a few seconds later an associate walk over ask me if I need help and goes " Is that a doctor who shirt?" I smiled and said "yes" We talk about Doctor Who for a bit and went on shopping soon another associate  came up to me and was like " We thought that was a Doctor Who shirt"  I smiled again and my sister like show  her your bag. (its Star Trek Bag , custom made ) The associate smile and goes my manager is a big Star Trek . A few minutes pass as am still shopping their manager came over and was like " I was told  I need to talk with you and gave him a puzzle look so did he , then he smiled " I heard your a Trekkie" I laughed and showed him my bag.  That shopping experience at LUSH was amazing. I did end up buying  things and they actually gave me extra samples because I was awesome.


So it never hurts to show your pride. Don't Hide the pride! Like always

Horribleness

Hello Ya'll,

My  week started out crappy but end pretty well.  

I did watch Orange is the New Black in 3 day so  now am  I don't know what to do with myself. I won't  ruin the ending for ya'll, but boy I loved how it ended! I can't wait for Season 3 in OCT 2015. 

I also just finish my Dr. Horrible Cosplay. 

 Here the load down for how I did it. I got the dress from Amazon, The shoes are knock off Toms from Payless, The Briefcase is actually a backgammon game from Toy R us. I order the goggles and gloves together as a set off amazon and the patch is from Etsy. Once you get all the pieces pretty simple to put together.

Do you guys realize Dalek Chick and I have been at this for a year and a half now? And while quality lately may be a bit lacking due to technical issues and busy personal lives, we do try our best to share the things we think you guys will enjoy, from literature and writing to crafts and cosplays to video games and movies.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to write about this week, but as I realized the beginning of June marked a year and a half, I thought it appropriate to simply say thank you to you guys! We enjoy interacting with our fellow geeklings and we appreciate the interest you've shown in our little blog, and I hope we're able to continue for a good long while.

So keep on geekin' on, and don't be a stranger: we like hearing from you, so please do utilize the comment section on any post.

Pros and Con of Dallas Comic Con

Hello Fellow Geeks, and Geekettes,

  As ya’ll recently know I went to Dallas comicCon. I am going to  take  the idea of  My Geeky Geeky ways blog and write  down pros and cons.

PROS

Venue:

 It was very nice and big place that was a bonus, even during peak hours I could still move around.  There was plenty of places to sit down , and charge your phone. I also really enjoy the fact you had Choices in food! IT wasn't just the 3 little concessions stands with just hot dog, hamburger and nachos anymore.   Friday I had a hot dog, Saturday I had chef salad, and Sunday I had a pretzel.  

Other means of arrival and lines:

It was so nice not getting up at the crack of dawn so we can leave and get to the Venue   2 to 3 hours early just to get a decent parking spot. We just hop onto the DART (Local Train sort of like the subway in New York) , walk right in and didn’t have to wait inline. Now If you did get there early the line to get in was indoors, with a/c , which  all the Cosplayers loved!

Cosplay Hideaway:

             Thank you to North Texas cosplay for having a special room off to the side of the venue for us cosplayers who need a break. They had Water, anything you can think of to repair your costume, and table to sit and seat in peace. Nothing like taking a bite of food and  get ask for a photo.

CONS:

Price:

            Everything was higher and   they started to change and charge of things I’ve never paid before. Now I was expecting the ticket prices to be a bit higher because they did move to a bigger place. But VIP triple in price and the premium was double the price from last year.  They also lied about some of the autographs prices, Nathan Fillion Price online was $70 and at the convention it was $80. Also they CHARGED for the TNG panel. To get front row seat was $150 and to get just a general Admission seat was $20. That was on top on you tickets to get in

Security:

             I never saw a single cop at the weapons check booth. I never saw Paramedics, Firefighters or Police officers walking around the convention floor like I have in the past at the Irving convention floor. The first add station was behind the photo op around and on a Saturday mid day like you will actually get back there easily.

In all, I had fun but most won’t be back next year unless they announce an amazing star.  If they will learn not to nickel and dime people I think this Con will even better .

And then I had myself a Firefly/Serenity marathon on Monday and Tuesday.

 Well I am currently at Dallas Comic Con, having a blast. I'll bought Star Trek pjs and earrings. My Cosplay is Cinderella before the ball, I have a Mulan , Ariel and a Giselle with me. Here an awesome Cosplay I've come across.
